If you have read my previous article about Dhaka City Mayor election 2020, then you must be aware of the prediction I made like others about the result. It was obvius that Awami League supported candidates are going to win, not becuase they are good or popular; rather becuase it is the dark reality of Bangladeshi politics. Awami League and all other political parties in the country have proven over the years after independence that whenever they are in power, they will try to capture their power by corruption in all levels.
Sheikh Hasina is such a shameless Prime Minister in country's history that her election commission is now going to protest against her government. She and her family has been ruling the country over many years now and since opposition leaders are not in active role, she has gone mad. I can see, very soon this current election commissioner is going to resign or will be fired from his role. Same thing happened to the one of the ex-chief justices and everyone knows about it.
If we consider the latest City Mayor election, I am a bit surprised to see why international community did not raise their voice about the situation during the voting day where clearly general public were forced to push button not based on their choices but others. Few foreign observers visited some areas during the election period, but was not significant enough. Are they a bit relaxed seeing BNP in the election field? Is that the goal international community wants to achieve? or do they want free and fair election to take place in Bangladesh?
Even ministers of Hasina's government are relaying her tone and they are behaving like goons who are just going to fight without showing any respect to law and order system in the country. Well, there is no law and order in the country, but people at least try to steal in the dark, but in Bangladesh people are so corrupt that they even are not scared to do anything bad in public. I don't see any hope for an improvement in corruption in this country.
This Sheikh Hasina government must go now, they have been in ruling power for so long now that they are now openly practicing their dictatorship activities. Already sent every opposition in the political field out of the active politics, now they are proper dictator. They are misusing the constitutional power given to them by the public, against public interest. It is not a government for the people or by the people; it is now a government for the government and by the government. It needs to end now.
